Eco Terrace
The project for a new contemporary terrace of 3 houses focused on sustainability and high end design. The proposals were to replace a detached dwelling on a large plot in Bar Hill, Cambridge. The modern building embraced the 21st century need for sustainable living and the following strategies were incorporated; air source heat pumps for heating, PV panels for electricity, vehicle electric points, sedum green roofs, energy efficient construction to minimize heat loss, cycle storage for bikes, rainwater harvesting within rear gardens and ecological enhancements in the form of bat and bird boxes with a variety of trees and bushes to attractive wildlife. Externally the building was clad in charred timber cladding and contrasting brick with triple glazed aluminium windows. The low energy homes will achieve low running costs and high levels of comfort and enjoyment.
